Emma specialises in policy and research regarding homelessness and the housing of vulnerable groups. Her interest in this field began in frontline work with young homeless people, but over the years has grown to encompass diverse groups such as asylum seekers, prison leavers and gypsy travellers. Emma has a strong track record of delivering high impact research projects. Motivated by a passion for seeing people who are homeless or vulnerably housed empowered, her aim is to execute robust research, providing a sound evidence base to affect positive strategic change at all levels. She has experience of working to influence national government both at Westminster, through her role at Homeless Link, and Holyrood, through time at Shelter Scotland and with Indigo House. She also brings insight from local government, having lead on the development and delivery of homeless services for a metropolitan borough council.
Drawing on her practical experience, management and research skills, Emma also provides evaluative and consultancy services to housing sector organisations, working collaboratively to improve practice.
